About this deal

There is also foreshadowing about Thayer not knowing how to be a girl dad (when he gets a puppy for Forrest) and this of course directly connects to the fact Salem had a baby girl. Extremely traumatic, life-altering issues that seem glossed over. They are there to create tension and drama but are handled poorly by the author. There are a handful of authors that I know can balance such heavy topics - make them integral to the story and characterization - but leave me feeling hopeful in the end. Salem has stayed away for years - concentrating on raising her daughter. She married and divorced her high school bf (Caleb) who stepped up to be the father her child needed and to be a husband Salem could have gotten if she had never met Thayer.

So much of this book didn’t need to be there and added nothing to the story. (Also a problem in book one but I was willing to let it go) But by the end I was just mad at myself for wasting my time.

Series Reading Order

Now, six years have passed, and during that time, Salem became a mother to her five-year-old child named Seda. She started a relationship with Caleb and eventually married him, although she knew deep down that she could never love him the same way she loved Thayer. Being a scientist who enjoys experimenting on unsuspecting individuals, she married Caleb with the belief that she could develop love for him.

If Dreams of 18 by Saffron A. Kent had a baby with The Naked Fisherman by Jewel E. Ann it would be The Confidence of Wildflowers. I adored how well Caleb's character was handled, there was no bitterness, no resentment. He truly was a great guy and was such a wonderful father to Seda. He stepped up and Thayer even felt absolutely grateful for it. I also appreciated how they did not lie to anyone and tell people that Caleb was her biological father. The family trope in this book was very prominent and it’s one of my favorite things of all time so I really loved seeing it in here as well. PDF / EPUB File Name: The_Confidence_of_Wildflowers_-_Micalea_Smeltzer.pdf, The_Confidence_of_Wildflowers_-_Micalea_Smeltzer.epubalso, i find it Thayer Holmes has branded himself on me. And I know, without a doubt, that whatever this is, whatever we become, if we grow and flourish like the wildflowers behind our houses, or crash and burn, it won’t matter because when I’m old and gray, lying in bed thinking about my life, he’ll be the best part.”

i really wanted to love this but ultimately the choices the author made did not work for me, but they might for you if you want an emotional book. And after all this, after she finally tells him the truth at 30%, nothing really happens for the final 70%. It’s basically one long epilogue. No angst. No conflict. Nothing. So it was really all for nothing. Which makes me wish that this story had ended in book one and I could have avoided all this unnecessary drama and frustration. I am sorry If my review seems a bit odd,but I am just still under the book's influence, even so that I have read it 3 days ago. Honestly, some of my words are failing right now. I will probably add some more to the review, but It will be at a later date.

The Confidence of Wildflowers Book PDF Summary

And, I’m sorry (I’m not), but how, just how, was Forrest’s character LIKED?? I can understand the appeal of a child (I can’t), but every sentence he spoke was so clearly thought by an adult that it was just so hilarious😭😭. Our brilliant MC repeatedly praises the little human’s intelligence (that does appear to exist in some sentences) only for him to say: “What did she mean about my dad cheating on her? Were they playing a game and he cheated?”..... 😭GOD, the way his intelligence appeared only when the author thought it convenient, and otherwise reduced him to a blabbering, brainless prop, was atrocious. At least be coherent to the character itself😭. Salem has Caleb who has been her boyfriend for a few years and her best friend but they are growing apart and spend most of the summer before he heads to Harvard apart (mostly because his mother makes it happen via different ways) and Salem cannot help but feel something extremely deep with Thayer and that leads to them sleeping with each other while she is still with Caleb, she goes to his dorm room the next day and ends their relationship - opting out of telling him about Thayer. No offense to Caleb, but you're her mom. I don't just mean that in the DNA sense. You're the one who's stayed at home with her and all that. Besides, he works long hours. I don't think he can be as stable for her as he'd like to think he can be. He's being selfish. Seda needs to be with you, and he can have her some weekends."
