Believe it or not, summer is almost upon us already, and for those with an eye for fashion, that means it’s time for a bit of a wardrobe update. The summer season always brings on innumerable interesting styles from top designers and mainstream brands, with the result that window displays everywhere from the local fashion boutique to the closest Marks and Spencer become packed with exciting new clothing.
The tricky part comes in choosing the items for your summer wardrobe from all of these window displays and advertisements. More often than not, there’s simply too much to choose from, and sifting through the various summer styles can take a great deal of time and effort. Perhaps the best way to go about shopping for the upcoming season is to simply opt for the styles that grab you first! Adopting this strategy, here are a few words on some of the “loudest” clothing and accessory trends for the upcoming summer season.
Black & White
It’s fairly typical to hear about black and white fashion during the colder seasons of the year, but for the summer, this is certainly a trend that will stand out in window displays. Whether it’s outfits featuring black and white strips, or simply different pieces of contrasting black and white clothing, this colour combination will certainly be prominent this summer.

This is an incredibly broad trend, but one that has been noteworthy on just about every runway show displaying summer fashion. A graphic print might be anything as simple as a leopard skin design on a dress, or something entirely inventive, artistic and original. Nevertheless, you’re certain to see plenty of printed fabrics during your summer wardrobe shopping.
Finally, something of a more typical summer trend is also well worth noting this season. Pinks, yellows, blues, greens and other popular summer colours are showing up in fluorescent, neon tones in collections aimed for the coming summer, and give you a few very enjoyable options to consider.
Plenty of bold styles are making the rounds in summer sunglasses, and many of them are sure to jump out in any sort of display. Most notably, bright white frames with dark lenses, and striped frames featuring bright colours seem particularly trendy for the summer season.
Jewellery trends can be a bit tougher to get a grasp on, but this summer everything seems to be oversized. Dangling, delicate earrings, large, low-hanging necklaces, and wrists full of bangles and large watches are all popular for the coming months, and all go with the overall summer trend of bold style.
International Fashion Week is now well underway and what better way to capture the glamour of it all in a window display? One VM company which has this covered is Visual Merchandiser. Their new ‘Top Model Collection’ is the perfect way to tap into this growing trend of going backstage. They have a lovely white finish, and have striking, realistic, life-like poses that will stand out in windows and turn heads. I could definitely see them in the windows of my favourite designers!

From 7 January to end of February, Selfridges introduces the new store-wide concept, No Noise. In an initiative that goes beyond retail, the project celebrates the power of quiet, seeing the beauty in function and finding calm among the crowds.
Love this scheme by Emma Elizabeth Design. Summer is just getting started down under and they are enjoying the pastel trend in Westfield shopping mall. Cant express how much I love the melting paper beach balls… they are just perfection.
