About this deal

Enhance specific sound cues with presets for footsteps, competitive and immersive gaming, as well as bass and treble boosts. The Audeze Maxwell Wireless are better gaming headphones than the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro Wireless as they're more versatile. The Maxwell is the first headset I’ve used that’s been able to maintain a wireless connection when I walk from my home office to my kitchen — which isn’t very far away, but i separated by a four-foot-thick industrial factory wall made of steel and concrete (nothing has been able to penetrate this wall — until now). The Audeze Maxwell are gaming headphones, and while you can make them look more casual by detaching their boom mic, they're still heavy and bulky, which can be a deal breaker if you want to use them for commuting.

If you're looking for more headphones, check out our recommendations for the best gaming headsets, the best headsets for Xbox Series X/S, and the best wireless gaming headsets. I’m all for simpler designs that aim to eliminate sources of frustration, but this needs a trip back to the drawing board because of long-term durability concerns. And I had a bunch of those wearing the Maxwell headset during testing, where I'd stop gaming or typing just to listen slack-jawed to what was going into my earholes. If, for some reason, you don’t like the sound of the Audeze Maxwell, you need to give Audeze HQ a shot because what you don’t like about the sound should be addressed with that utility. Great review that covers most of my questions, my Penrose still sounds great but won't hold for long now.The new dual chamber earcup design takes up some of the space by having two physical earcups, one internal and one external - this helps with noise isolation and acoustics.

This isn’t necessarily an issue, as most gamers don’t need a headset that can play from two wireless sources at once — however, the Maxwell also doesn’t allow you to manually switch between the two sources. The earcup's bottom edge has a mic noise suppression button, a connector for the detachable boom mic, a USB-C port for charging and using the headset in a wired fashion, a 3.

The Maxwell are better-built, have a more neutral sound profile out of the box, which some users may prefer, their continuous battery life is significantly longer lasting, and you can connect them with up to two devices at a time. But the Audeze Maxwell means I no longer have to make that compromise, because I can have both planar magnetic drivers, gorgeous sound, and a wireless gaming headset in one. The Maxwell happily connected to my Shield and delivered a gaming experience that was imperceptibly different to the wireless experience I had on my PC, the connection is that quick.
