About this deal

However, going on the information on the list, like the first iteration, it appears consumers can expect a three-piece set comprising wedges of 52, 56 and 60 degrees with a steel head and Milled Face Technology. I fought for a long time whether I should carry one or not, but having that additional club with yardages for under 100 yards, just makes too much sense. Lots of rain around here lately, so bunkers are not in the best shape, but it is a good sand wedge (and most of the problems have been mine, not the club’s! We’ll get into this a bit more when we talk about creativity, but this design means the Kirkland wedges are good from tight lies and pretty versatile as you move around the green. The relatively inexpensive wedges combined with that decent quality and performance meant version one proved hugely popular and there’s every suggestion the latest release will follow suit.

The Kirkland Signature wedges are not forged clubs, so don’t expect butter (that’s down a different aisle in Costco). If you take a look at the Golf Monthly YouTube channel, you'll see his equipment videos dating back over a decade! I reviewed and currently play the Cleveland ZipCore wedges, and I also checked the Honma TW wedge in the past.In terms of their size and shape at address there is not much to choose between these and the best golf wedges you'll find on tour. A 54*/58*/62* option would have been ideal for me, but I've found the stepping of distances to be pretty good. All of these clubs performed well on most of the shots I tried, including chips, flops, and pitches.

That extra friction of the face-milling is absolutely noticeable and I saw tons of spin being produced around the green, from chips around the green, and even out of bunkers.you won’t notice as much difference between these and top-of-the-range wedges – a premium urethane-cover golf ball is responsible for most of the spin inside 30 yards. From bunkers shots, using the full effect of the bounce, to delicate chip shots where more of the leading edge was needed, it provided good, all-round playability. Besides the grips, the only major downside of these clubs to me is the lack of fitting or customization .

Costco DOES support golf by making it more affordable for the less fortunate and the uninitiated to enter the sport. We then took the two more lofted options onto the course at West Hill - hitting a host of pitch, chip and bunker shots. We started by testing the Kirkland Signature wedges up against a premium model using a SkyTrak launch monitor and Titleist Pro V1X golf balls. The market would be in good place if everyone could keep product on the shelf and the pandemic wasn't hurting everyone. Offering tremendous value, Costco’s wedges — the Kirkland Signature three-piece set, also provides surprising feel and performance.Normally, I would say go try it yourself to determine if that’s something you’d enjoy or at least could deal with. Around the green, the Kirkland Wedges spin about 80% as much as you would get from a brand-new premium Mizuno or Titleist wedge. They are low bounce and sit very flush with the turf, a nice benefit for both feel and creating spin. While many wedges look similar to one another as designs across all clubs are streamlined, there’s one club I found to be very similar — the Titleist Vokey SM7 wedges (review HERE ), minus Kirkland Signature’s… well, signature logo on the backside of the club.

This should improve your distance gapping and then when you get closer to the green, the spin and versatility on offer from the higher lofts could unlock more performance in your short game. My expectation was that they would spin noticeably less than other wedges I’ve used and tested lately. The performance across the board was very similar - the Kirkland launching 3˚ higher and spinning a fraction more. There will be players that pick clubs that their favorite pro hits, there will be the one brand player, the off the rack with no fitting, the I just want cheap equipment, those that want multiple options from the OEM, and those willing to change a shaft and maybe take a grinder to it. In addition, the progressive center of gravity in the Kirkland wedges does help improve overall forgiveness.

You get a high-performance cast wedge—created by pouring molten metal into a form—in the ZipCore wedge, and a forged club—made by pounding a club out of a solid piece of metal—that has a super-soft feeling in the TW wedge. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not terrible, but the quality of the grips feels noticeably worse than the quality of the shafts and club heads. I've had a chance to test under a variety of conditions in Northern California (wet/dry, morning/afternoon, light/heavy rough, compacted/super-compacted sand) and I have to say that these wedges are the best value clubs that I've ever played. Offering classic looks, impressive spin and plenty of versatility into and around the greens, we think these represent excellent value for money. FWIW, I have found that my Kirklands actually fly farther than my Titleists did (almost 10 yards), so I’d hit some shots before getting it bent.
