Explaining my silence

I wanted to do a quick post to explain my lack of recent blogging. For those that know me, they will understand, but for those that dont, here’s why. I am just about to graduate from a BA course in Fashion Marketing after what can only be described as one of the hardest years of my life. For every creative knows that when your involved in a creative project it takes over your life, literally.  There have been some moments of complete joy at what I have managed to achieve but also lots of moments of self doubt and panic, wondering if I would make it out the other end alive. So as the light at the end of the tunnel finally arrives I just wanted to thank all of my lovely readers. Since starting The Window Shopper, I have experienced lots of surreal moments, in particular being invited by Vogue to join them for Fashion Night Out and meet editor, Alexandra Schulman and also working with the amazing guys at Chameleon Visual and experiencing my first look at the production of a fashion show.  I hope that there will be many more ‘pinch me’ moments like this on the horizon!

I thought I would let you all in on what I have been living  and breathing over the last 10 months. ’Fantasy Land’ is a trend book I am producing, designed as a tool for creative designers. I found that my experiences of trend books were very prescriptive and I wanted to create something that is exciting and inspiring. Its filled full of imagery and editorial that I hope will ignite creative direction, In particular I have tried to relate it to important trends happening within retail!

So come on, who wants to see a sneak peak? I will be exhibiting my work at Graduate Fashion Week in London from the 10th-13th of June alongside my very talented classmates.  Let me know if you’d like a ticket to come and visit us!!!

ps.  Just email me at victoria.buchanan@unn.ac.uk if you’d like a ticket!

Im also totally obsessed with neon signs at the moment!!!

Gloss Creative: The pleasure is mine

As you all know I am a big fan of contemporary design agency, Gloss Creative. I just received a fab little gift in the post from them (all the way from Australia) to mark their 10th birthday. A beautiful leather pencil case, with metallic foil logo printed on the front. Perfect, because I can never find a subtle case to put all of my pens in!  I look forward to seeing what amazing projects the next 10 years holds for them!
