As you all probably know by my recent updates I have just got back from a trip to Paris. What a beautiful city! I have been 4 times before but it just never seems too loose its sparkle for me. I am going to try and put together a report of places to visit soon.
I have been watching the beauty brand Guerlain for a while now as they have been doing really interesting things with their stands in the UK and have shown off some really lovely visual merchandising. So you can imagine my delight when we got to Paris and found this pop-up shop dedicated to all things Guerlain. I was in heaven. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to take any picture (securities words not mine) I really was so disappointed as it was FULL of amazing ways of merchandising products. Surely the whole point of a pop up shop is to show it off to the world, in my opinion people should be encouraged to take photographs of things they see that are beautiful especially if it could be gone tomorrow. It just happens to be that the things I find beautiful are often the things which for some strange reason staff do not want you to take pictures off. It’s a mystery to me.
Anyway before I get into a rant and write a letter to my PM (or something crazy like that) I hope you have enjoyed these pictures as much as I enjoyed looking around the store and trying the scents on! I particularly love the dispensers filled with flowers and the giant metallic lips!
Here is a sneak peak into the new Abercrombie and Fitch store in Paris on the famous Take a look at the new Abercrombie and Fitch store in Paris, Champs-Élysées. It is truely beautiful. If I’m honest the whole Abercrombie thing is not my style. I mean don’t get me wrong the shirtless men are nice and everything but it’s just not really my taste. My 14 year old cousins on the other hand. They would queue for an hour just to get a taste of the american dream. You have to admit Abercrombie has picked it’s niche and it is filling it in every way possible. No suprise then that the company announced earlier this month that net sales jumped 23% to $1.15 billion, following last year’s 4.6% drop. So people, what do you all think? Does it push your buttons?
Where to start describing my trip to Paris… had the most amazing time. For some reason I didn’t really plan the shops I wanted to shoot in advance. Usually I just pop along to Avenue Montaigne and I know I should have searched out lots of little boutiques but time just got the better of me and to be honest I am more familiar with the touristy/cheaper stores. I don’t exactly go to Paris to shop designer, as much as I wish I had that kind of money! However on the last day I picked up a magazine which had a map in of all the areas with designer stores and suddenly I had discovered the area where all of my favourite stores are, Mulberry, Stella, yet I was just about to leave for the airport. Gutted is not the word…. BUT on the bright side of things I have a copy of my map and next time when I go back I am going camera in hand, with a full day free for shooting. Yes I know I am a Geek. Its better to just embrace it I think!
