About this deal

I personally find the original Series 7 one of the easiest to use foil shavers out there, mainly because it has a very narrow head with an excellent range of motion and it’s also very forgiving. The same is true with regards to closeness, both the Series 8 and 9 being similar, but again with a slight advantage for the Series 9/Series 9 Pro. But I am only referring to an older Arc 5 like the ES-LV65 or ES-LV67; compared to newer ones like the Series 900 (ES-LV6U) I would say the comfort is similar, maybe only slightly better for the Arc 6. Let’s now focus on the part that really matters and that is how well the Braun Series 8 actually shaves. Unless you’re cleaning the shaver manually sometimes (using water and liquid soap), there’s no need to oil the blades yourself.

The reason is that the cleaning stations are different (the Series 8 84 models come with Series 9 stations). Well, I bought the Series 8, used it for a few weeks and in this article I’ll cover everything there is to know about Braun’s Series 8, including how it compares to the brand’s current top performers, the Series 7 and 9.However, despite the thoughtfulness behind it, the trimmer on the Series 8 8370cc is average at best, at least in my experience.

For example, if you don’t press the release button, the trimmer won’t budge, so you won’t activate it by accident. The older S8 station (no drying fan) has this ledge on the top part and the shaver sits in it on a slant (you can also refer to the image above with the 8370cc during the cleaning process). But my main gripe with it is that the blades just seem dull and require multiple strokes to cut the hairs, especially the ones that lie flat on the skin. Please consider that your results will likely not be ideal from the start and it will take a few weeks to get used to the new method of shaving. The cleaning function works very well though; it’s just a bit annoying to have the three icons there that never light up and serve no function. All the silver bits of trim have this matte, brushed finish that handles smudges a lot better than the high-gloss chrome coating found on other Braun models.

A drop of light oil (clipper oil) on each foil or even using a lubricating spray for electric shavers (Remington, Braun or Philips) will help and also prolong the life of the cassette. However, as you mentioned it’s head lock was faulty and broke a while ago which was quite annoying for me as I like shaving with head locked.

Located on the back of the Braun Series 8, you must press the small release button and then slide the trimmer forward toward the head of the razor. If you have a non-BNPL balance, you will still need to make at least your minimum payment as shown on your statement. The Series 9 has an extra cutter for a total of four, making it more capable when shaving longer, wiry, cross-directional hairs. The Series 7 charger connector a 90 degrees angle as the shaver has the port on the back (the Series 8 has it at the bottom), but it will still work without any problems. While the absence of a protective cap and a small bottle of lubricant was to be expected, I was surprised to see that Braun didn’t include a cleaning brush.

ps this is my 4th Braun razor over the last 20 years and I love them, but I would enjoy it more if I could understand and use all the features they say it has. The travel lock on the Series 8 can be activated by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds. Sorry to hear you weren’t satisfied with the performance of your shaver — apart from the cassette availability issue and maybe a hint of false advertising, the Series 8 is actually a good shaver and most users so far have been pleased with it. The shaver appeared new and unused, but given the issue with the foil replacement light and the sealing of the box, I now have some doubts. From what I can tell, the Series 8 replacement heads are still on the expensive side but do now seem easier to come by.The instructions showed taking the foils off and putting some oil on them and then showed a small brush and using that to clean the inside before replacing the foils. I bought a Braun series 8 at Costco (as several others have commented) because it was on sale and I wanted to see if I could do a better job with an electric razor. I know exactly that feeling and while we can only speculate, I don’t think we’ll see a brand new Series 7 in the next couple of months. By this, Braun simply means that the Series 8 is fitted with a 10 000 CPM (cycles per minute) motor, just like the Series 7 and 9 (30 000 divided by 3 shaving elements).
