The fact it's NLT also aids in that, the language is easy to grasp and makes the Bible understandable. The translation is clear and accurate and the study notes are providing me with knowledge that I had not previously known or considered.The notes begin with helping the reader understand God's Word, then shows how to apply what God is teaching to everyday life. The back of the book has a great section on how to be a leader, tips on giving a message, how to explain Christ and Christianity to a non believer.

Of course we should expect the bible to be heavier since it will contain everything I've mentioned that this bible contains. I just started reading the NLT because my son told me it was his favorite translation,He has the same bible you do except in paper back which started falling apart on him within a month.
